Synopsis: In 1919, France and Poland sign an
agreement which immediately trigger a significant recruitment of Polish labor
destined for one of the sectors then most affected by the French economy: the
exploitation of coal. The Poles emigrate massively in the mining cities of
North and Pas-de-Calais. In 1931, they reached the number of about 205,000
people in these two regions. Since then, they have become one of the cultural,
social and identity local components. Was their installation in France as
simple as legend has it?
